What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
ABA is a research-based therapy focused on understanding and improving behaviors that are meaningful to individuals and their families. It uses structured strategies, positive reinforcement, and data-driven decisions to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviors.
Some Skills Targeted
Increase functional communication skills including vocalizations, sign language and PECS
Increase adaptive behaviors such as independent toileting, accepting no and self feeding skills
Decrease maladaptive behaviors such as tantrums, self-injurious behaviors and aggressive behaviors
